It's been seasonably cool. Leaves are about in full color now-a beautiful view out my dining room window of golds, reds, greens (evergreens) and rust. However, by Thursday we're supposed to be back up to low 70sF (21C).
I prefer the cooler temps. I've had the fireplace on (propane) a few times for short periods but have only had one hard frost so no long, sustained cold yet. _________________ "Language, however, is not language" |

I like October fogs. |
I think I have seen this animation film on Channel 4 late at night. I rather liked it. _________________ Gonna hang myself from my family tree. |

They have announced first snow in a few days here.
Today it's about 10C, damp and cloudy. The worst. |

First snow. Winter is coming to Vilnius. Of course, it melted almost immediately - it's still a few degrees above zero. |

I can't wait to see our first snow. I don't expect it'll be for awhile since we've been in a real Indian Summer this week (temps up to about 80). Supposed to be a bit cooler tomorrow and for a few days after. _________________ "Language, however, is not language" |

Really windy last nightas I walked from the Waggon after The Dome gig...up to Preston Manor where I'd left my van and driving up the a23 the leaves were billowing like a blizzard....The wind has dropped but the skies are grey and there is a constant drizzle today....the Scottish word for it is dreich. |

How do you pronounce "dreich" Alex? Hurricane/Tropical Storm Sandy (Sandy??? Doesn't sound so bad) is headed our way in a couple of days.
This one has been nicknamed "Frankenstorm"...Sigh. _________________ "Language, however, is not language" |

It would be a hard "ee" sound as in tree or bee...and the soft "ch" as in loch or achtung. Apparently only Scots, Germans and Japanese have no trouble with the last part...wonder why? |

Storm passed us by with little trouble but all my family in NJ is without power & not expected to have it restored for a week or more but otherwise all are well, thank the Lord. Just one state away & they had a blizzard. Unreal.. _________________ "Language, however, is not language" |

Seconded! My thoughts with everyone who has been affected by Sandy...
Lithuania still has early winter. It was also very, very foggy today. But it can't touch Sherlock Holmes... |

Thank you both. My son's family had to move to the in-laws until power is restored. They had no way to heat their home. They've returned to work and school, though, so that part of their lives is back to normal. My sister & her husband, my mom, niece and her family are all still without power in their parts of NJ and again, the entire state basically being told the hope is by Nov. 5 for all power to be restored. The important part is that everyone is safe and their properties didn't sustain damage. _________________ "Language, however, is not language" |

NO snow in Umeå,northern part of Sweden.
It's rather dark outside much of the time this time of the year particulary when there's no snow.
It came just a little of it about some weeks ago but it went away quick.
A little funny..a neighbour made a snowman though it was just a little snow outside..That neighbour maybe took all snow for that.. |
