31 here, my earliest memory of music is singing along to the ''du-du'' bits on A Big Surprise in my Uncles car, then Beat The Clock came along and change my world, I guess I would have still been 4 at the time, the following year I bought my first single with pocket money my Nan had given me for sweets, the single was When Im With you, since then theres been no turning back! |

lol yeah thats true, my dad has loved sparks since the beginning so i was brought up listening to their music and glam rock/synth/punk/goth/new wave and all that kind of music and i still love it now! none of my friends have ever heard of sparks but i quite like it that way, its cool to be in your own little group of fans rather than them being the "popular" band of the minute and everyone going crazy about them. I think sparks prefer it that way too =). Lol awwww what music do your kids like then? Xx _________________ chicks dig dig, d.i.g, dig dig metaphors... |

21, but I must look 44 as have been mistaken for my dad's wife/girlfriend/bit on the side (the first time when I was 16 - brilliant) on more than 5 occassions (please God, let it be that he looks young!)
My grandma has got to be the oldest Gary Numan fan - 64! |

I'm 25 years old, and believe it or not, but MTV actually managed to open my eyes to the world of Sparks and their brilliant songs - that was in the early/mid 90s. |

I'm 19 and I LOVE Sparks, they're far more innovative than most stuff in the charts at the moment. It's that sense of eccentricity that I find most modern music lacks. Keep the albums coming guys! |

i'm 22..
i think i've been a growing sparks fan since i was about 12/13, i can't remember any definite point. i was a precociously rabid suede fan aged 8, so maybe i was a bit late on the draw with sparks, comparatively
there was a hilarious moment (for me anyway) at the forum gig when i was waiting behind a drunken my-age-ish bloke for cloakroom. he turned around, saw me, put his arm round me, gestured wildly at the rest of the much older crowd around us and muttered 'YOU'RE ALL GONNA DIE BEFORE US!' then ran off cackling
(obviously this isn't the way i think about things..) |

Oh, well, LOL!
That's how to get your ass kicked! - the reminder comes at the right point, it seems. I'll be 49 in less than a month, and at times I already feel 50 and more... when you pass a certain limit, you start rolling quicker and quicker down the slope
Anyway, drunk or not, the bloke told the truth, or at least I hope so, 'cause I don't want to see the angels come and take my sons before me.

nooo don't say that!
i've got so much respect for the older fans, especially those who've stuck it out since the beginning and are still massive sparks devotees. there's more than a hint of jealousy, having missed all the excitement of experiencing albums i love at the time they were released, being able to see the band live in their various eras.. all the press, tv appearances, videos, everything that's been swept off into history.
how much hostility is there towards younger fans in the older hardcore lot? i always feel a little like i'm crashing someone's turf, but i do believe that music is timeless, you either get it or you don't. and i do wave a fist at my parents for not creating me any earlier... |
