Just seen Blondie's Radio 2 session by pressing the red button on the telly. Set comprised (in no particular order) Mother, Please Please Me, Heart of Glass, Atomic, What I heard. Band seem to be recapturing their new wave sound making the 48 year span of songs sound completely cohesive, albeit with even more gusto (from a couple of new band members). A good 8.5/10.

A dear friend has gifted me the collectors' package of Panic of Girls, but the weeks are drifting by and I've yet to find the right moment for the first playing of the CD.

You Gotta Be A Hustler If You Wanna Get On - Sue Wilkinson 8/10

I've got the original 7" single, and it's much ruder than her TOTP performance, although quite tame by today's standards.

Have now listened to the full album, and agree totally. Its a high quality album, even if it lacks the immediate and abundant hooks of their work up to 2000. Eight years is a heck of a long time to wait for an album though, even if they have a reputation to protect. My favourite track is Le Bleu, and i'd award it a couple of more points; fantastic trumpet playing really does it for me.

"Johnny Remember Me" by John Leyton. Its like the best imaginable John Ford western, made with help by Fritz Lang, and turned by some strange alchemy from celluloid into mysterious black vinyl. 10/10 for sheer atmosphere, especially Lissa Gray's awesome ear-massaging, spine tingling, heart shattering backing vocal.
