The Album it was lifted off did No 4 in the charts and this was the 2nd single off it that I think did not chart.
Shame. Not so many folks would of heard it . Maybe if a deluxe album had been released it would of been a bonus track. I thought this and "The Flood" were best things she ever recorded.

Oh i never knew her album went to number 4.She has a lovely voice,At least her fans and others will have heard the track.I guess the old problem of lack of air play and promotion hindered any chart success for the wonderful song.

| A radio station where I lived in the 1980s occasionally played Sparks, but only the then-new songs. The same station played a lot more Depeche Mode; when Martin Gore released his solo all-covers EP 'Counterfeit' NTYBOME wasn't the track that got played on the radio but I got a copy and thus heard Martin Gore's cover years before I heard Sparks' original (or found out that Sparks had been making music for over a decade before I first heard them.) |

I remember the support act for the Gratuitous Sax... show at the 21x21 event, 'Bad Terrorists' performed a rocky version of 'I Thought I Told You To Wait In The Car', which I thought worked well.

I'm a fan of the Katie Melua track, too - it's a real treat to listen to. Lesser artists would have just remixed what's already there, but the Maels add in their own sounds to take the song off in different directions.
