|
|
With the Edinburgh gig less than 4 weeks away I have to say I haven't seen a single poster anywhere to advertise the gig on 21st October.
Likewise nothing in the mainstream press. The Sunday Mail for example usually lists forthcoming gigs but I haven't seen a thing.
I signed up for the street team but haven't heard back either. Presumably this is where posters / fliers are coming from?
Whilst no doubt the Scottish hardcore Sparks fans will be there (we know who we are!) what chance is there that the more passive Sparks fans in Scotland will even know there's a gig.
The venue holds 1,500 and I'm seriously concerned we'll be rattling around inside. _________________ But when I trimmed it real small my Jewish friends would never call. |

Posters arrived now as well so off on a mission. To do this properly it might be necessary to sample the "atmosphere" in a few pubs over the next week or so.
Wish me well comrades! _________________ But when I trimmed it real small my Jewish friends would never call. |

Got posters placed today in Vinyl Tap (indie record store), a couple of studenty cafe-bars, Student Union bar and the cd/dvd lending bit of the central library, also fed some of the flyers into the tourist information leaflet stand in the victorian arcade (there not being much else to wow tourists in Huddersfield!!) _________________ www.britbitsandclips.com

Good spot Lily.
Went out around Newington area of Edinburgh earlier today. Great fun. As well as a load of pubs I visited a barber's shop (haven't been in one for years).
Posters up in a kebab shop, a Polish deli (let's see if the Poles turn up in big numbers), lots of cafes, sandwich shops and even one on the derelict old Odeon cinema on Clerk St (where Sparks played on 19/11/74) although not sure my blue tacked effort will stay attached.
Only rejection was a dancewear shop where they had a few other show posters up. The woman gave a good natured refusal as it would frighten the little girls who were her customers.
Delighted to know Ron still has the power to terrify nearly 40 years on.
Oh and by the way I gave the lady in the shop one anyway (ooh err !). _________________ But when I trimmed it real small my Jewish friends would never call. |

Well despite my reservations about the lack of publicity.....
The gig was a near sell out! My street team effort must have worked!
Seriously though when I saw the size of the crowd I was gobsmacked as this gig had little or no publicity. A few people I spoke to only heard about it late and made it along. With the right promotion Sparks would have sold out Murrayfield Stadium!
Oh and as always Sparks were out of this world. What a show!!! _________________ But when I trimmed it real small my Jewish friends would never call. |
