I listened to 7 Sparks tracks before heading out, quite an eclectic mix… it might take over from Classic FM.

The new release by The Offspring is out today. The album is just OK but there is one point of interest for Queen fans. The song "Get Some" starts with the opening sirens of "Stone Cold Crazy", probably sampled but not sure. Not totally surprising because Brian May has appeared with the band on stage playing that song.

I give this song a solid 6/10

1880 Or So - Television

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiPYTInr7Is

Television's 3rd release from '92 mostly flies under the radar but I think in many ways it rivals 'Marquee Moon'.

The song '1880 Or So' is one of the highlights and the only song performed from this album when I saw the band on their last tour in 2019.

RIP Tom Verlaine

10/10

Samantha Fish was amazing in concert. I would highly recommended seeing her to anybody that appreciates great guitar work.

moving on...

Album: Whizz Kid by David Werner

I had the vinyl thanks to a buddy. We were in a used vinyl shop around 1982 and he bought Whizz Kid. I was asking questions because I sorta remembered hearing a song of his (turned out to be The Ballad Of Trixie Silver). He explained how he saw Pat Benatar open for David Werner at the Cleveland Agora and it was one of the best shows he ever saw. Out of the blue, he just handed me the album and told me to keep it if I liked it. It turns out i loved it. Thanks!

No David Werner albums were ever released on CD. However, I had CDR versions of all David Werner's albums thanks to a messageboarder from the Ian Hunter site. The connection is Ian appeared on a Werner album. The messageboarder happened to be from Pittsburgh which is where David is from. For all I know I was talking with David Werner. Regardless, I had CDR copies of great music. Thanks!

Whizz Kid is now available on Spotify. All I know is that it wasn't there a couple weeks ago and it is now. I can listen to "The Ballad Of Trixie Silver" anytime I want....at home, at work, or at play.

A little trivia. The beginning of the second song (Whizz Kid) starts with 20 seconds of quiet but lush vocals singing "ooh ahh". The 2006 Butch Walker album (The Rise and Fall Of Butch Walker And the Let's Go Out Tonites!) starts with a 20 second opening track titled "Ooh..Aah.." that accurately pays tribute to David Werner. Very cool.

Whizz Kidd is one of the great American glam albums and I highly recommend it to anybody. That album by Butch Walker is not bad either!

Album: Whizz Kid - David Werner
9.5/10

Nothing Is as Good As They Say It Is - Sparks

I heard this on the radio on my way to work today. The station is 91.3 The Summit out of Akron, Ohio.

As I was changing the stations and arrived at 91.3 it was a bit of a mind melt.

Shout out to the Summit,
https://thesummit.fm/summit-now/
You get a 10/10.
Well Done!

Here is their list of recently played songs, Sparks at 4:41 AM. Pretty cool station.
