Sun Arise…I think the widely known version is by Rolf Harris but the Alice Cooper version is so earthy sounding, a raw harsh take on the song, absolutely my preferred version!! |

I do prefer the version by The Dollyrots but your version is not without merit.

Most kind of you to post that Mr.Buckeye......😱
I wonder how an artist feels when someone covers their song in a completely different way than was intended.
I'm thinking of Tom Jones cover of Randy Newmans "You can leave your hat on".
The original version was never intended as any sort of a "sexy" song...quite the opposite.
I think Randy has been asked a few times about this and basically says he's very happy with what Tom Jones did with it....😂
I'm sure way back when it was written had he been told that some day it would be the song that accompanied male strippers the irony would not have been lost on Mr.Newman.....
I have a soft spot for Tom Jones though......... |

Your post, Crabby, reminded me of another Tom Jones cover version: his 1988 recording of Prince's Kiss, with the Art of Noise. I prefer the bombastic cover version to the very different original, although it is a bit shallower. the 1988 version includes musical references to some other cover versions the Art of Noise had done too! _________________ "but we can hear what others can't hear..." |
