Something else I never leave the house without is one of those clippy "everything" books. A Sparks filofax, in which I could keep all my important notes & info, which could also contain a few pages of handy Sparks facts, maybe a lyric of the day perhaps, would be just the ticket for fans like me who still feel 14 but have to do grown up things like attend meetings etc. And after all, the Clangers diary I currently use gets commented on every time I get it out..... _________________ You see a peanut, and the day's off to a good start. The old brain is sparking (!) tonight, cos I haven't had beer yet...We seem to be a "crafty" lot, so how about some kind of kit? Cross-stitch, or a knitting pattern for a Sparks sweater? Or a painting by numbers set?
Okay. Going for beer now! _________________ You see a peanut, and the day's off to a good start. You witness some soil, and it's a jamboree..... |

I love the idea of a Sparks Street Team! Hopefully it means that we'll be able to promote the heck out of the US SHOWS - *nudge-nudge* hehe. I love you guys. _________________ AKA "thomas" in the chat rooooom. |

From what I can see, leaflet-distribution has targeted the areas of largest population nearest the upcoming concert venues. It makes sense, if resources are limited, to concentrate on the areas where you are going to be seen by as many people as possible.
I know from pms some fans are privately feeling a little aggrieved that they haven't been asked to help. But this exercise is about promoting the band guys, and is not a loyalty reward for fans. I'm sure both the management and the band will tell you that there isn't a clique of favourite fans, and that no one fan is valued above others; every Sparks fan who has ever been to a Sparks show or bought a CD is as valued as the next. _________________ You see a peanut, and the day's off to a good start. I don't think at all there are favourite fans, of course.
I just mean Sparks needs promotion in France! If they want to come again one day in Paris or everywhere for a show, they need promotion! _________________ I am a Sparkette and I am proud of it ! |

I have been in conference with the management of Chicago Rock Cafe in Stourbridge (yours truly's haunt) about distributing the flyers tonight and there is absolutely no problem at all with this. In fact, a certain DJ is going to be MADE to play some Sparks tonight and advertise verbally the tour/single release/album release. Oh boy, am I going to enjoy tonight and to see the look on his face :-) I wish I could video it. _________________ Carol wears Cacheral..... |

I haven't got my newsletter either but hey, I have managed to get a hold of it online so I am quite content.
If anybody who has not been asked to help as part of the 'street team' would like to come to Brum on a Friday or Saturday night and give me a hand then please feel free. It ain't all that glamourous you know at this time of year and there are certainly no loyality bonuses. Just to get the venues packed to the rafters, Perfume and Hello Young Lovers at No1 is all the payment I need. Surely this is what it is all about. _________________ Carol wears Cacheral..... |

When the world has spun a few more times, and the band returns to Texas, I'd be delighted to help get the word out. _________________ Robert

|
|
Everyone:
I remember when the majors & independent labels did this -
I believe they were called 'Field Marketing Reps??'
Anyway, that's the bad part about being in a recession -
they don't want to do stuff like this anymore - and the
layoffs consisted of a lot of these positions - so it all gets
passed down to fans.
Not sure if you'd need anyone in my area, though...

Where are the Field Marketing Reps??
(Laid off, of course...)
Certainly R&R can well afford to PAY someone to do this
kind of work.
