since "This town..." was first released. I stopped listening to them for about 10 years but rediscovered them just in time for their 1995 tour.

I started listening to Sparks decades ago after their Old Grey Whistle Test performance.
Of course, that was in my previous incarnation as a long-haired groover called Arnold,(who died during that unfortunate incident with the goat.) Luckily for me, my faith allows memories of previous lives to be carried forward into the next. So, here I am, an 18 year old dead ringer for Angelina Jolie and still into Sparks in a big way - though I also have an irrational fear of goats....

I first acquainted myself with sparks when Amateur Hour charted (Totally missed This Town). I was 12 years old.

Kimono was my fist ever LP, Propaganda was purchased upon release. Sparks + Woofer was purchased at this time too, I was hooked.

I recall vividly, buying the LP's and studying the lyric sheets intensely on my way home, trying to image exactly how the songs would sound. Once I finally rested the vinyl onto my record deck.....................wow did I get it wrong every time or what ! ! !

I remember some singles, Get in the Swing particularly, but it took until `77 (or was it `79 ?) until I got the "Best of..." compilation.

It`s all a blur

Itīs very soon 30 years for me (in April) off and on (mostly on).
The first Sparkssong I heard (as I know) was "Donīt Leave Me Alone With Her" on swedish radio in 1976,still one of my absolute favorite song.

When I saw Sparks in picture for my first time doing "Get In The Swing" on swedish TV xmas eve 1976 (moving picture,I havenīt seen any pictures of Sparks,I think, before that)I was hooked on Sparks after that.

OK I heard a few Sparkssongs on radio between april and xmaseve 1976 that I really liked but from xmaseve 1976 I was really hooked on sparks.

I heard Kimono My House in '94 and was hooked from then on. Luckily, this wasn't long before When Do I Get To Sing My Way came out, so I had the double pleasure of discovering their old and new stuff.

OH LUCKY YOU wondergirl that got the chance to see Sparks in 74.
I didnīt know Sparks then (and I was only 9)(could have known anyway).
Discovered Sparks 1976 and they didnīt visit my country (sweden) until 2003 after their performance here in Sweden 1975(also performed here in 74).
OK I could have travelled but it didnīt happen.
It was great though to finally see and here them LIVE 2003 and 2004 and now soon again.

I have to say that 30 years down the line, I still cant work out what I really think of "Get In The Swing".

Looking at the poll to date, it seems that 80% of pollers have been hooked in from "No 1 Song In Heaven" and before.

Lets hope that HYL's brings another crop of new sparks fans along. Nothing would please me more than seeing the boys back on TOTP's occupying the coveted number one spot. Achoo sits back with big grin and sips on tea ! ! !

Darn near dropped me cup!

May 1974 - TOTP only seems like yesterday as a young teenager.
Saw them live in 74 (Leeds Town Hall) & 75 (Leeds University)
Then a gap of 20 years before Manchester Academy and 4 times since then.
They are quite addictive aren't they ?
