OK, I just re-visited Indiscreet and here's my worthless opinion:
The album starts out really strong with 2 or 3 typical Sparks rockers. Then they start bouncing from one genre to another. Most of the songs are good, but they don't inspire me to want to listen to them over and over. The album doesn't have a cohesive sound (IMWO) like their greater albums: Lil Beethoven and Kimono My House.
Now I'm going to post my own rating thread in the Music Only forum. I hope you all will contribute your opinions there.

Well, for what it's worth. I think cohesive albums can & often are, overated. The very fact that it skips from style to style & genre to genre is one of it's strengths. Visconti's come in for a lot of undeserved criticism as far as I'm concerned & anyway, Ron wrote the songs didn't he (though I also love 'Pineapple' Russ)? Concept albums can (not always) be boring & anyway, variety is the spice of life. The fact that 'Get in the swing' & 'Looks, Looks, Looks'/'It ain't 1918' are on the same album & were written by the same guy in the same period is, to me, amazing. I need to hear some more of the albums before I can contribute to the poll but I heard the Island records when they were released so nostalgia will always keep a special place in my heart for them. _________________ If you must write, be right, be erudite. |

This is the best album, not the best album cover!
